About Tim Appel

Greetings! I'm Tim Appel, fine artist and sculptor. I was born in Edgerton, a small town in western Ohio and raised on a dairy farm surrounded by acres and acres of land. It was a great place to spend a childhood. Daily adventures with my dog would lead us through the woods and fields—me with my drawing pad and Queenie with her enthusiasm. We would return at sundown with many pencil sketches and a pretty decent collection of stone arrowheads. As long as I can recall, I've always loved to draw. But I wanted to challenge myself—and this passion for 2D evolved into a desire to try my hand at creating 3-dimensional figures and environments. To my surprise, what I had considered to be a challenge, came quite naturally to me, and soon I was developing my own unique style.

After graduating from high school, I traveled east to New Jersey to pursue an education at Joe Kubert Graphic Arts School, where I majored in drawing and comic book art. My work experience encompassed many stages of the art business from paste-up in advertising agencies to illustration for a newspaper publisher to freelance work for DC and Marvel Comics. For many years, I was employed full time as head pressman for a small print shop. I now concentrate solely on my artwork, trying to make a living doing something that I love. I live in central New Jersey with my wife, Maryann.
